Statement

Hi! My name is Andy Yu. I make stop-motion videos by literally playing with my action figures to come up with a good story scenes. My stop-motion videos would be inspired by the classic Martial Arts films such as Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and other Hong Kong actors. I love to watch Japanese anime shows and live-action with computer graphic imagery that gives me an idea of bring those elements to my stop-motion videos. The more I watch them, the more I can learn how their techniques of editing or adding special effects to the visual screen that makes it entertaining. I want to be an animator making stop-motion animations or video editing to make a good story scenes in the future. I make my own stop-motion video using the tools of the "Stop-Motion Studio" app and my iPad. When creating my own stop-motion video, it took weeks or even a month to spent manipulating models to create short films from 3 to 10 or even 15 minutes long. Depending on the length of the video, the frames were captured from 3558 to 4026 at 10 frames per second (FPS). My main focus on the visual storytelling is about the martial arts and action genre to my love of Gundam, Bruce Lee, and martial arts film entertainment in general.

I’ve been working with a limited toolset and know I need to improve the cinematography of the work. But my primary interest is in the model work. To stay busy and make a little money, I did some production work for design and web firms during in my internship.
